I am planning on propagating a bunch of Ribes and Sambucus plants - TopicsExpress

I am planning on propagating a bunch of Ribes and Sambucus plants this spring. Both these genera are known to be easy to strike cuttings from, but it never hurts to hear other peoples experiences and try to figure out best practices. My Ribes are on the north side of my growing area, so by the last time they melted out of the snow last year they where ready to break bud and not many of them rooted (except R. nigrum). What has worked best for you while rooting hardwood cuttings of these genera? Do you use any hormones? If so, what hormone and what concentration? Do you cut in winter and store or cut in spring before buds break?
