I am praying for our President during the last two years of his tenure. I dont think any of us are under the illusion that he will have an easy time when that has not been the case even when the Republicans did not have a majority in both houses. But for all of those who have argued that this President has missed an opportunity to help the nation address this great racial divide I would just say that this was not his job nor should it have been anybodys expectation that this was his role. If anybody should be leading such a conversation it ought to be Mitch McConnell and John Boehner. I mean I might even entertain the idea that White America was serious about dealing with racism if there was serious leadership from these two people. I would suggest that they start by calling out the avowed racists in their own party.
