I am pretty sick of people asking at this point, so here. Math Rock: A sub-genre of Post-Rock and Punk that was coined the term "Math Rock" by critics for the frequent use and switch of bizarre time signatures, and poly-rhythms. Math Rock has nothing to do with lyrics involving math, nothing to do with School House Rock, nor is the genre educational outside of the music field. Emo: Sub-genre of Punk, and is the root of the above. More of just a more Lo-Fi, Garage-Rock version of Punk. Lyrical content is usually comical, and makes no sense (if the song itself is not instrumental). The titles of songs and bands are typically ridiculous, humorous, and very long. No where in this genre of music is there depression, self-harm, etc. Vocals are typically off-beat, and could sound "whiny", but then again, its punk. Duh.
