I am proud to announce the culmination of the Flower From Phil initiative. This morning, my cousin Guy and I drove 2 full truckloads of flowers over to Roswell Park Cancer Institute in Buffalo, New York and set them up in the lobby for all to admire. Final count: approximately 160 bouquets purchased by you, the amazing citizens of Western New York in my brothers name for the hospital staff. Each bouquet has a card attached with a positive message and/or a name to add a special touch. A group of family and friends are now on hand to meet the staff members to personally show our gratitude as they leave for the day. Im proud to announce that we also have a monetary gift for the hospital due to the generosity of so many people that felt the need to go above and beyond. Although this is the pinnacle of the last month of planning, I know in my soul that this is just the beginning of a larger movement. Personal note: From the very moment we walked into the building with the first load, staff members, patients and families stopped in their tracks and smiled or just looked kind of amazed. I was a sight to behold on both sides, Im sure. A elderly lady pulled me aside and whispered Thank you for spreading the joy. I let her know that this is larger than the immediate coordinators and that it takes ALL of us to create and propagate positivity. She winked and smiled, knowingly. It was one of those moments that arent described accurately with words.
