I am proud to announce, with the Clubs most sincere gratitude to our late Presidents siblings - a new Trophy is to be awarded at this year’s Cocker Spaniel Club of Ireland Championship Show. The Sally K. Kelly Memorial Trophy will be awarded as The Acarreagh Perpetual Challenge Cup for Best Annual Junior Champion. The Trophy will be awarded to exhibitors resident in Ireland (32 counties), whose entries have won their IKC Junior Champion Title within the past year as defined within the date parameter of the CSCOI Annual Championship show. While we can never attempt to recapture Sally’s deep, sincere and honest interest in the Cocker world, after much thought, we believe this award can best encapsulate her legacy. Sally followed the Irish Cocker world meticulously. She was as trilled as any exhibitor when one she rated was so judged and we wish to acknowledge and commemorate that glorious twinkle we all saw in her eye on such occasions. Sally was most stimulated when justice was not done, so this Club Class is to be Judged as a stand- alone Class, based on how the dogs exhibit in this challenge alone, Class results aside and the Judge will be informed to award on this basis only. This is an award to recognise these youthful Cockers full of potential and with the best breed spirit and is to be enjoyed by their exhibitors who are full of hope for their charges. As such, the Club considers the above “Club Award” criterion to be defined with the “Spirit” intended. Award is subject therefore, - to Junior Champion Title being awarded by the IKC for the time period specified, Club approval and the good sportsmanship of the exhibitor concerned. The Trophy will be presented at this year’s Club Championship show by family members Robert J. Kelly and Jane Lanagan, who will travel from the UK to celebrate with our Community their sister’s Legacy. Please make them welcome and share your memories and stories of Sally’s escapades and commitment. Please remember they know little of the madness we all share within the Canine community, but know they are very aware of Sally’s commentary of her days spent with us. As such it will be our duty to let them know our Sally and all she got up to in our world! This Trophy is to be a celebration of Sally’s life and ethos. Looking forward to seeing you all at the Show.
