I am question struck by a recent trend for people breeding really, really young dogs. I am wondering what is the reasoning behind this decision? I am not looking for everyone to jump on and bash someones breeding ethics, but I am wondering what benefit there is to breeding a dog before most health certs can be completed and the dogs are not worked or proven in any venue. I want to help those dogs get into great homes regardless. But I think that the working dog world is ruining the breed much faster than any other venue. People freak out about specific registries recognizing the breed. But at least those breeders (even those that breed for show - at least they have a vision) breed with an intention. They arent taking 2nd or 3rd generation working dogs - with no work themselves - and making puppies. I honestly believe that unknowledgable people are obtaining Dutch, calling themselves working dog breeders - when they have no clue - and doing much worse damage to the breed than any enthusiast could accomplish.
