I am quickly closing in on some what of a milestone: A 10-year old - TopicsExpress

I am quickly closing in on some what of a milestone: A 10-year old Google E-mail account Ive had since luckily being sent an invitation to the beta that started around April 1, 2004. I accepted my invitation at exactly 12:07 AM CST on a Wednesday, August 25th, 2004. Sure, there are probably thousands of people who can say the same. However, the milestone I am referring to is that I have never deleted a single e-mail message or attachment since that very day. It really serves as an interesting digital time capsule of sorts. Examples include old voice mail recordings, old pictures from crappy TracFone/Net10 phones, bills from former Southwestern Bell, Charter Communications, conversations of friends lost through time and even a few through death. What I find interesting about this time capsule is the change in how we communicated over the last decade. I thankfully dont receive Fowards of cute cats and funny and/or stupid shit anymore which seemed to be pretty common around 2004. About 9% of my Inbox is composed of old MySpace notifications and friend requests soley for the purpose of the game MafiaWars, does anyone still remember that shit (Im talking to you Eddy Withers)? The really neat thing for me anyway though is the relative ease and power with Gmail that you can filter through a decades worth of junk and penis enlargement advertisements and effectively pull communications you want to analyze or relive, no matter how pointless it might be. Below, an example of ordering from Dominos. Searching my received e-mails, between the dates of December 4th, 2006 and May 3rd, 2010, we ordered a total of 30 pizzas, and two 8-piece cheesy bread side orders from them. Even more useless, of those thirty pies, 26 of them were medium-sized (12), 1 small-sized (10), and only 3 large-sized (14) pizzas over the span of 11 orders with a total cost of $278.17. This comes out to around 2.72 pies at a total of $25.29 (including tax and delivery) on average per order. Before you start thinking that I have absolutely no life, wait; it gets worse. Considering all of these orders were from the same franchise location, we can deduce from the order numbers and relatively come up with a good estimation of how many orders Dominos served during this time period. In my 8th-grade level math calculations, it appears this single franchise had around 92,662 orders for this period. If the averages of my eleven orders were any indication to the average of Dominos orders around this time (which I am aware the data sample is too small to be even close to being accurate), we can suggest they sold around 252,041 pizzas during this time frame. Thats a whole lot of pizza -- about $2,343,422 dollars worth actually. Im really craving an Imos pizza now. Yes, Imos. There is a reason we only made eleven orders from Dominos. Seriously, try an Imos Roast Beef & Aujue Dip Sub before you die. Ill let you in on a little secret: These delicious subs are only $4 between 11am-4pm, and it takes me two sessions to finish one. Youre freaking welcome. But besides this useless probably invalid information about my ordering history at Dominos, I also have hundreds of voice mails from my VoIP service provider (Packet8), including this very festive-filled message on Christmas Day, 2006: soundcloud/terry-winfrey/voicemail-12-25-06-message You know what, I think Sarah Taylor is right, Im a freaking dork with a lot of time on my hands. But I dont care, I cant wait to see what the next decade of penis enlargement advertisements and pointless eBay, Amazon and TigerDirect orders I may have in my future. Maybe by then Ill actually surpass the insane 15 gigabyte quota on it. So far for this decade, Ive only used around 600 megabytes... Enough storage space for the NSA to monitor me for a couple lifetimes. Spooky. Attached is some information I am sharing, it simply is too much to go through in a single day (seriously, at least 200 hours of voicemails, random pictures sent to me like Shaun Wells sending me a video of his Tech Deck skills circa 2005-2006 [I was pretty good myself].. its rather overwhelming).
