I am really looking forward to heading home next week to sing as the tenor aria soloist in Bachs Johannes-Passion, conducted by my mentor and dearest friend Gerald Gray, at Fredonia State University (my alma mater) in Western New York. Had it not been for my first lesson with Gerald ten years ago as a lost transfer student (and the countless hours of advice, life-lessons, and musical road trips) I would not do what I strive to do today, and I cannot even put into words what an honour it is to sing this piece under his leadership. Furthermore, what a unique and humbling privilege it will be to share the stage with the immensely talented and inspirational members of Fredonias voice faculty (Joe Dan Harper, Julie Newell, Daniel Ihasz, Angela Dilkey Haas). Their advice, guidance, and performances during my time as a student there all have made lasting impressions and I recall them frequently as a young artist. Will Prapestis, who has been one of my best mates since our ole college days and now make music with almost daily here in Boston, will join me as an aria soloist as well. And the stylish orchestra and the powerhouse choral area that Fredonia is known for...what a treat. And of course, it will be wonderful to see many familiar faces, connect with many friends still in the area and make some new as well. I hope you have your ticket because you will not want to miss out on this extraordinary piece of music. Please do attend!
