I am really pleased the Bangor Minor Injury Unit is to stay open, however just to show people that there was alternatives that could have been considered to keep the Bangor GP Ward open based on the SE Trusts own figures. A) Cut to community transport Taxis costing the SE Trust £1,254,419,610 last year, this would save £192,000 B) Increase Car parking charges which currently raises £1.5 Million, if this was increased by 10 pence per pound and you would raise £150,000 C) Reduction in Hospitality by the SE Trust (last year the SE Trust spent £51,000) Reduce entirely and you save £51,000 D) Travel and subsistence claims costs cut by 15% (SE Trust spent last year £4,676,502.84) this would save £700,000 E) Reduction of SE Trust sickness record from 6% to 5% F) Postage cost the SE Trust £569,747.92 a year, if this was cut by 5% it would save £27,000 £207,000 is the cost to run the Bangor GP Ward, the total savings without hurting frontline services potentially could be one million for the next financial year, so I did find the money.
