I am saddened by the political chaos and violence in Egypt. Egypt has for many years been a relatively stable country in the middle East. Revolutions rarely produce good effects in the short or medium-term - getting rid of President Hosni Mubarak two years ago has made life worse, not better for most people in Egypt. By getting rid of a perceived corrupt leader, people naiively assume the next leader/government will be much better, but this assumption fails to take account of human nature and sinfulness. Tourism has collapsed except in Red Sea resorts. The economy is in chaos, many public services (water, electricity etc) are erratic or non-existent. If Egypt descends into a civil war between the Islamists and the Army, the bloodshed and misery will greatly exceed what is happening in Syria. Pray for Egypt !
