I am sick and tired of the way race (and ethnicity) is portrayed so often in media and they way so many people perceive it. Racial distinctions have no biological basis, no factual basis of any kind. Yet racism and bigotry and prejudice are somehow ingrained in so many people. I am no smarter or dumber or stronger or weaker than anyone else because of my black skin. When the people of the confederate states who have been voting against the civil rights act every election since 1965 understand that the black and brown people they vilify live the same way they do, when they realize that the people taking their pension and closing the plant is not being done by the black and brown people they hate, when they realize that he families of spanish speaking kids entering their local schools are invited here to work, that those families are here to improve their lives, that there is no degenerative pathology of laziness or criminality among black people, and that their change in economic circumstances is being perpetrated by very wealthy people who want to be even more wealthy, we will have our revolution in this country.
