I am sick to death of naysayers (although more recently yaysayers) saying how bad our wonderful NHS is. Yesterday, I had a small fall and bent one of my fingers back, overnight it swelled and became quite painful so this morning I went to the Minor Injuries Unit at Edinburgh Western General. The staff were superb, I was seen, x-rayed and treated within 25 minutes (nothing badly wrong, maybe a very small chip of a bone) and booked in for a follow-up appointment next week. A very efficient service provided and probably better than it was the last time I had the need to call on the NHS when something similar happened. The NHS is great now and never ever decry such a super service that is etched into the psyche of every British person that lives on this island.
