I am sitting at the BB&T Center in Sunrise Florida at the opening ceremony of the JCC Maccabi Games. It is the largest Jewish youth sports competition in the world. There are young Jewish athletes from all over America as well as Mexico, Canada, Panama, and 9 athletes from Israel, who of course received the largest applause. There are almost 1000 total athletes who will be competing in several different sports activities. Most touching was the memorial to the 11 members of the Israeli Olympic team who were taken hostage and murdered by Palestinian Black September terrorists in Munich, 1972. It was a grim but necessary reminder to these young athletes of the legacy they carry. I wish these young people all the best. Shalom
