I am so happy and greatful to be in a country I really love to be in. I feel that I was invited to this country since my early age of 15, and now at the age of 44 I am so happy to still be a part of it, thanks to so many people. I am not a Gambian and I am not confuse about who I am. And that I love this country does´nt mean that I don´t love my own country to. This is the amazing with humans. We can belong to one country, and feel love and respect for another country and that is so great! I am so greatful about that. I´m meeting up with new friends that I have just known for a few years, but I am also meeting up with friends since more than 20 years. These kind of friendships are always very special. We have seen each other getting elder, seen each others children grow up... That´s a true blessing for me! Gambia has changed a lot trough the years that passed by, just like any other country in the world, Sweden included. Few places is what they used to be in 1986 when I first came to visit this country. When I was spending long time here in 1992, in the age of 21, I decided to live the local way, or the hard way, if yu compair it with today. I was alone here with 2 children, there were very few toilets at that time. You would be given a flashlight, a bucket of water and an empty bucket would wait for you on a back yard. It was left to you to realise what you were suppose to use for what. It was a time that was teaching me so many things in life that I still have use of every day. I thank God for giving me that experience. I thank God for the bleading hands when I washed my clothes and my childrens dirty dipers. The roads of sand that i used to carrie my children on my back, walking trough the sand that burned my feet until the skin got tick and hard. Today everything is SO different. First of all the country it self has changed so much. I have been in luxure houses in Gambia, that I have not even entered in Sweden or any other place in the world. My children like to hang around the more luxure areas, where I don´t even feel confortable, but that´s okay now. I am 44 years old, not 21 or 15 and I don´t have to proove anything to myself any more. I can relax. See new things remember the old times and look forward at tomorrow. Places have changed, system have changed and people have passed away. I a greatful that I was a part of their lifes, I am happy to be part of the present and I´m looking forward to meet tomorrow. I have gained and given true love to a country and a people that will always be in my heart. Live & Love, if you really love to live!
