I am so happy to announce that Triton College has been working with a number of community organizations and Proviso Township High School District 209 in a collaborative effort to develop a Parent University that will help parents of incoming freshman students become better prepared to assist in their child’s education at the high school level and beyond. Transitioning students from middle school to high school successfully is an important step in the educational continuum. This new workshop brings about an exciting opportunity for our communities as we look to further engage parents and increase their involvement within the schools and their child’s academic careers. Topics will include navigating high school, college and career readiness, and sessions specific to each of the three Proviso high schools. The first Parent University will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2013 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the Proviso district offices located at Proviso Math and Science Academy, 8601 W. Roosevelt Road in Forest Park. Sessions will be conducted in both English and Spanish.
