I am so incredibly grateful for our blessings today! Thank you so much friends for your prayers for Chevy! We could not have asked for better results! With spina bifida things can change so quickly at anytime but for the moment we are so very happy and thankful! Chevy did a great job thru his renal ultrasound, then the orthapedic surgeons assessed him and were all smiles!! They said that they dont expect to see much of Chevy as it doesnt look like he will be needing anything as far as surgery from them (legs/hips/feet)! They were optimistically surprised by his strength, muscle tone, range of motion and responsiveness in his feet and legs! :) I was very worried about meeting with the urologist but he said while Chevys bladder is an issue we will definitely have to deal with for continence purposes, we do not need to catheterize him or give him medication at this time! :) I fully expected that we would! He did say that Chevy has 2 cysts in his kidneys that we will have to keep an eye on; if they change or he develops new ones he will be referred to a nephrologist. He said not to worry at the moment but thats easier said than done! The sb pediatrician was pretty happy with Chevys growth and development; he is a few months behind on a few milestones but thats to be expected and we are thrilled with all he IS doing and we could not ask for a sweeter baby! This guy is so full of personality, he distracted all the doctors with his babbling, funny expressions and waving at them like the queen! :p Thank you so much for all of your support, the next biggie is an mri under general anesthetic at sick kids hospital in toronto on feb 25th which will look at his brain and spine. Ps...i couldnt resist a few pics in the awesome waiting room today! Chevy loves the fishies! :)
