I am so peeved about the passage of this HJR-3 bill out of the Indiana whatever committee. I attempted to write Bosma a letter through his legislative website, but I got an undeliverable error message. Here is what it said: Speaker Bosma, Being in an interracial marriage, I am thankful to have been married at a time when our marriage could not have been put to a public vote. It was already illegal in Indiana to marry interracially (miscegenation) until the U.S. Supreme Court ruled all such laws unconstitutional in its landmark Virginia v. Loving case. The only thing that stands between the will of the majority and the rights of those in the minority is the CONSTITUTION, and as one who swore to uphold it, you and those who vote in support of this amendment will not only have violated your oaths, but put in motion a mechanism to discriminate against those whose relationships have no bearing on you or your relationships. The arguments made in support of this ban are the same ones that were made against interracial marriages. They were wrong then and they are wrong now!
