I am so pleased to see that the Ice Flyers are requiring that those who sing the National Anthem at their games do so in a traditional way without all the individual stylings and interpretations. Nothing annoys me more than to hear our anthem sung in a way that is barely recognizable. This weekend Reid performed at an event and the woman who sang the National Anthem did a terrible job. Not only did she add all kinds of runs and additional notes all over the place, but she screwed up the lyrics at least four times. It was disgraceful and the event planners should have made sure that they had an acceptable singer. I am so glad that from the very start, we have guided Reid into singing our anthem the way it should be sung...traditionally and without all the embellishments. People are actually able to proudly sing along.
