I am so proud of this Iron Academy Soccer Team! Todays game was a tough one for us, but the players showed their resolve and responded to dirty play with determination and not retribution, rebuffed mean-spirited comments with dignity and a smile, all the while winning EVERY facet of the game except the final score. We lost 3-2, but we won so many other victories on that field today. Our young men got the important things right, and while I hate to lose the game…no, really…I hate to lose the game!!! ...the guys played with the same character they displayed during our winning streak. They hustled from whistle to whistle, and fought to the end! We will learn from this loss, grow from it, and come back stronger and wiser because of it. I know this because every game has revealed that this is the mettle of our team…we are…IRON !!!
