I am so very proud of my son, to day he recieved a community award titled The Eastlakes Community Person of the Year-for being an inspirational role model for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islander people and the broader community. The speech that was given by the mayor of Lake Macquarie was as follows; Although this person is not very old, he has become a responcible younf man who is dedicated and involved in a number of committees. He is a member of the Lake Macquarie Youth Advisory Council (LMYAC). From this he was asked to be a part of the NAIDOC week fund assessment panel. Through the Lake Macquarie You th Advisory Council committee he was also part of the organising committee for the NSW Youth Advisory conference. He has been involved in the NSW Abotiginal Youth Golf Program. He represents his peers at school as a member of the Whitebridge HS Student Representative Council - Aboriginal Representative, was involved in the Bridging Cultures project and was a school leader for orientation day. I believe this person has shown his commitment to ensure his continuing role in both at school and in the community. His academic rrecords are excellent and he will succeed in everythinghe attempts. This young man is a future leader of the Aboriginal Community and a very strong role model for other Aboriginal students. Congratulations Jacob Taylor - 2014 Community Person of the Year. So yes I am one very proud father!
