I am sorry in advance for having to do this to everyone but this has been on my mind since Sunday evening. We had purchased some cattle from a breeder up north (IL) and found out that another family whom we have never meet before had also purchased from the same seller. So I got a price to haul them down and the transporter wanted $200 per head to haul them to his farm in GA (8 hours) away from us here in Geneva, so I asked the cost to bring them closer to FL and arranged to pickup in Jacksonville for only $50.00 a head more. No brainier as I can not drive 8 hours and gas for $50.00 head ($200.00). So I contacted the other family (Husband) on Saturday the 22nd and explained the cost and he agreed to the price of $250.00 per head for transporting to FL. So about 30 minutes later I get a phone call (wife) stating that the breeder gave her a price of $200.00. I agreed they did give a price of $200.00 to pickup in GA and told her that we made arrangements with the transporter to come closer for $50.00 per head extra, no response to my voice mail until a hour later basically stating that the transporter told them that they would haul to Fl for $200.00. I then left them a voice mail stating that you are wrong. Then I get a text stating the same thing and then I said to call the transporter back and get the facts straight from the horses mouth. Then I get a call around 9:00 p.m from the other family (lady) basically saying that they will pay the $250 per head to deliver them to FL. I told her that I will pick them up with mine and transport them back to my area for them to pickup and she agreed and I asked them to make sure that they had cash available as the transport is not going to take cash. They said where am I going to come up with $500.00 cash, so they only came up with $240.00 cash and $260.00 check. Who buys a animal(s) and has a out of state transporter deliver to someone they do not know and take a check. I know I wouldnt!!! So now I have to come up with an extra $500.00 in cash to pay the transporter and take a check from someone I do not even know myself. Nice guy that I am and trusting. The next morning (Sunday 23rd) I get a call from the transporter that he will be in Jacksonville at around 3:00 to meet, so I texted the other family with the details. I leave at 12:30 and a hour into the trip the transporter calls and says he will be late and will not get into Jacksonville until around 5:00 p.m and said no problem and then texted the other family with the update. Well we get the calves loaded at 5:30 p.m and text the other family saying we will be back around 7:30 p.m, with traffic we get to the stop at 8:00, get a check for $260.00 and cash for $240.00 (Total of $500.00) and off load them to the other family and they are on there way. This family did not even say THANK YOU or even offer to pay for 1/2 the gas. We spent over 7-1/2 hours on the road, 300+ miles later and 2 tanks of gas pulling a 16ft stock trailer. Just want to say that you just burned a bridge with me and will make sure that I never offer to help you and your family again. It is just a shame how people take advantage of someones kindness.
