I am speechless. Although today was one of the most devastating and darkest days for my family and myself, it was also one of the most incredible. Joey was laid to rest in such a way that strangers were lining the streets with tears running down their faces. I am honored to say that I was born and raised in Bethel Park. The love and support from strangers was amazing. It was such a cold day but it did not stop the hundreds of people that waited outside for over an hour, just to catch a glimpse of our little man. Over one hundred patrol vehicles alone was part of the procession today. The past couple of days displayed the tight brotherhood that law enforcement share with one another and I am so happy that they viewed Joey as their little brother. They viewed him as part of their family and that is so remarkable. Thank you everyone so much for the outpouring love and support. To those of you that lined the streets, I could not thank you enough. I cannot put into words how incredible of a feeling it was to see everyone’s loving faces for a little boy that they may have never met. To the law enforcement officers that took time out of their day to visit Joey at his viewing, who took part in the procession, or who visited the ceremony and/or the burial, you guys are true heroes. I know Joey would have been absolutely ecstatic to see all of you taking part in his dream. The weather today was harsh, but everyone pulled through and made Joey’s day even more special. Everything about today was beautiful. Loved ones and strangers took a tragedy and turned it into an amazing send off for our angel. We could not ask for more from an amazing community and city. I have never seen anything like it and I know I might never see something like this again. Joey, today revealed how much love everyone had for you. You’re such a beautiful angel and everyone wanted to be part of your goodbye. You’re at peace now and now we must begin our healing. We’re all going to be ok down here and we will see you soon! We miss you buddy and there will not be a moment that goes by that you are not in the hearts of each and every one of us. Rest easy angel. Cannot wait to see you smiling face.
