I am still in awe over this past weekend. The Vettes to Vets Day - TopicsExpress

I am still in awe over this past weekend. The Vettes to Vets Day 2014 at Edith Nourse Rogers Memorial Veterans was just the thing I needed. It was so inspiring to see how the Corvette Community came together to show their support and appreciation for the Veterans and the Veteran’s hospital. Knowing that all the donations and monies that were collected this past weekend will be going directly to the veterans in need at the hospital. We had the honor of sitting with a veteran while we were eating lunch at the hospital. Among all the heat and activities that were going on, there was this veteran, sitting at the table by himself eating. We asked if we could sit with him. He nodded. He could not speak, although he understood everything that we were saying. We asked him about this event and general conversation. He looked at us and nodded in response to everything that we said. He showed us his Military Police badge that noted that he was a Sgt. He served in Vietnam. He had several items that he showed us that he carried around with his walker. It was amazing to be in the presence of this Vietnam Veteran and he was glad that we took the time to sit down and acknowledge him. The feeling of respect and patriotism that was in the air that whole weekend, from the banquet the night before, to the awesome presence at the Hospital just overwhelmed me. It was a very emotional experience for me as a veteran. I am so glad that we decided to go to this event. If we do not do anything else next year and the years after… We will be attending Vettes to Vets!
