I am still trying to understand the concept of the Spirit World and the Material World. Im putting up some thoughts here. Before the portals were open, jumping realms required giving up something. People in the material world can enter the Spirit World by manifesting their spirit in that realm. They give up their body in the process. This is the only way they can interact with the Spirit World. Spirits in the Spirit World can enter the material world by manifesting a physical form in that realm. They give up their immortality in the process and this would be the only way they can interact with the material world. Though this is where it gets tricky. Since the spirit portals are open, the spirits can go into the material world and maintain their immortality and people can keep their body when they enter in Spirit World. People are both body and spirit which makes them special. Now the thing is that if people are both body and spirit, then when a person dies, I am assuming their spirit might be somewhere. After all, bodies arent immortal, but the spirit is. Iroh is one example of this happening. His physical body died but his spirit did not. But the thing is that I noticed something interesting. Spirits can interact with the material world if they are in that realm which also means the spirits can act like a physical body. So if Iroh entered the Physical world through the spirit world, he would be able to interact like any regular person while still maintaining immortality. The only thing is that he already lost his bending abilities. So, if this is true, if a person dies..like a non bender, would they technically still be able to live a normal life even if they are in spirit form? They would have immortality and still be able to maintain physical interaction. I dunno. Just a thought. -Khing Khong
