I am sure I am going to lose people off this page with my next post. This is re: Mickey, the dog who bit the child when the child went into his yard and attempted to take the bone out of its mouth. My view BOTH child and dog were failed miserably. However what concerns me is that rather than a warning nip which would probably have sent that child wailing and running off, Mickey nearly bit his face off. Now this poor dog is going to have his canines removed or filed down, or whatever and be shoved in some sanctuary. I sure as hell hope people who have worked on this case have checked the sanctuary out and will perform follow up visits to ensure that this dog gets more than a kennel to languish in for the remainder of his life. When you have to go to extremes of removing teeth and what not I have to ask myself is this really the right thing to do? In my personal opinion no. Unless it is some Shangri-La were there is enrichment, training...I fail to see how that will be an improvement over sitting at the end of a chain. Just my 2 cents worth. Again, both child and dog were failed miserably. And the end result is not good for either one of them.
