I am sure going to miss sitting out back in my rocker, winter sucks. I loved watching the squirrels chase each other round and round the trees. We have a mama rabbit and two babies that have gotten quite big now, its rare to see them. I am glad they only venture out just about dusk, because we have two large hawks that fly around and land on our fence sometimes The blue jays hate them and peck at them and mob them to get them to leave. One evening I heard a noise in one of the trees after getting a light and shining into the tree, I saw it was a possum climbing in it. I got a surprise a short time ago, I had opened the door to go out, but immediately closed it, something large and black was out there, I got my trusty light, slowly opened the door again took a couple of steps out shined the light in the direction of the critter and it was the biggest shrunk I had ever seen, it was digging in the yard I figure either for grubs or roots to eat, I made a noise it did not leave I shined the light on it, finally it got frightened and left. Tonight I hear the coyotes their crys are closer than they have been before. I think at least by a couple of blocks. When people say we are moving into the wildlife territory I believe it, this story all took place in my back yard, in a housing addition of about 300 homes. Our backyard is about 30 x 60 feet. Kinda small for such activity. But its all true. By the way that skunk got in through a hole in our gate, that has been fixed now.
