I am thankful and I feel humble today. ‘What a wonderful world’. I am thankful that I have found a new passion and a new virtual home to share my passion with all of you friends all around the world. I am thankful for all of you who have turned this whim of writing a food blog into a passion by being there for me unconditionally. I am thankful that I have found so many people who enjoy this passion with me. I would have never known we are so like minded had I not started writing this food blog. I look forward to every single like, comment, private message, encouraging word as well as silent support from all of you. I am thankful for the friends with whom I have shared hours and hours discussing what to post and which food will be most tempting and what is the right angle to take a picture of a particular food. I am thankful for the 2 people at home who are as excited as I am about my posts. They tolerate the torture of waiting patiently in front of a plate full of food until I am done taking picture of it to my satisfaction. I am thankful for people who instilled in me the love of music that has over the years turned into a passion and now an addiction I will never give up on. I am thankful for the food I grew up with, the people who poured all their love in making the food. I am thankful for those who taught me that loving to cook is about watching someone you love enjoy the food you made with all your heart. I am thankful for the memory of the aroma of food and the laughter of the people who enjoyed it in my childhood home far away in India. I am thankful for all the friends and family who have turned a house into a home here in the US by sharing endless hours of chats and food with us. I am thankful that I have friends who take over my kitchen and cook a meal and feed me every now and then. I am also thankful for my friends whose kitchen I take over and start cooking as if it belongs to me. I am thankful that I have friends who can decide to throw a dinner party at my home on their own. It makes me feel that they love me and treat my home like theirs. I am thankful that I have friends whose house I treat like mine and bring over people with me to their homes without asking for their permission. I am thankful and fortunate that I get to share meals with a lot of people frequently! And there is so many more……….. All of this makes my life sweet. Very very very sweet indeed. Even the rainy gloomy day outside my window today can’t dampen my mood because of all this sweetness in my life. So obviously I have to post a recipe for a desert tonight. I made this for the dinner party tonight at our home that was organized by my friend ‘Z’. I have a very sweet coworker who is also a fabulous cook! She brought this for us to share a few days back at work and I immediately decided to add it in the menu for tonight. So thank you my friend! And I thank you not just for this recipe, but for knowing me and posting things on my wall that resonates with me! For taking care of our class’s Bulletin board….and so many more things that you and I both know! Recipe for ‘Dump cake’: (Recipe courtesy : Ashley Reisert) Ingredients: 1 can of crushed pineapple. 1 can of cherry pie filling. 1 box of white cake mix. chopped walnuts Method: Dab a baking dish with a whole stick of unsalted butter. Make sure the butter is not straight out of fridge to make your life easier. Take crushed pineapple and make a layer on the baking dish. Pour cherry pie filling on top of the pineapple to make another layer. Add a box of white cake mix to cover the cherry pie filling. Add chopped walnuts Bake at 350 degrees for 50 mins ! Life is too short. It would be a sin to skip desert. So eat a big bowl of this delightful dessert tonight and enjoy this sweet gift called ‘life’ and listen to ‘What a wonderful world’ by Louis Armstrong. https://youtube/watch?v=E2VCwBzGdPM
