I am totally opposed to any further paid parking in the Lismore CBD. Tucked away in this years budget was the introduction of paid parking in the Kirkland Riviera Car Park. I voted against this budget and hence against paid parking. As the paid parking was part of the budget I could not move a rescission motion to stop it and had to wait 3 months to move a Notice of Motion (NoM) before I could try and get rid of it. I lodged this NoM on Wednesday morning for next months meeting. On Wednesday afternoon Lismore Council issues a press statement stating they would install the paid parking on Thursday. I contacted council requesting that his not proceed as I had a NoM seeking the removal of the paid parking. Request refused and the paid parking has now been installed. The NoM should go ahead on Tuesday the 10/9/13. If successful then council will have to remove the signage and meters. How silly council is going to look if the NoM gets up and what a waste of money!
