I am tracking a pretty solid but thin deck of high clouds as they move from west to east across our area tonight. Late Tuesday evening the only rain showing up on local Doppler radar is just east of Wilmington and well offshore of Cape Hatteras. Checking radars upstream to our west it doesn’t look like the clouds are making much in the way of rainfall. There is a weak boundary responsible for the shower near Wilmington and it looks like it may creep northward later tonight bringing a chance for some late night early morning rain showers along the Core Banks…..the southern parts of the Pamlico Sound and central Hatteras Island. As the cloud cover to our west moves east and interacts with the remnants of the seabreeze from earlier today, we could see a few isolated showers over the mainland but widespread rain is not expected tonight. Later tonight low clouds and patchy ground fog will develop in places that are still wet from recent rainfall. Low temps will run 68-72 on the mainland and 72-76 along the beaches.....skip
