I am truly disturbed to report that the feedback from many markets as we try and book events and on-air appearances is that Americans are not really into Indian food. Really? This from bookstores in BOSTON. PORTLAND. WASHINGTON DC. Even NEW YORK media. Is this really truly the fact? Because sales of my books and products are off the charts. Feedback from all of you is off the charts. Are they not reading their market correctly? Make some noise, folks. Because..operating on a shoe string budget - I cant make it to your city for an event unless you tell your local bookstores, Whole Foods, Williams Sonomas, Sur la Table, to carry my books and have me in to demo. You gotta ask for it, apparently. Because otherwise they seem to think that Indian food is for Indians only. My market research is telling me the exact opposite! On my last tour every event was sold out -- and most of the folks there wanting more WERE NOT South Asian. Go figure! AND Indian as Apple Pie is helping to solve the I cant find the ingredients issue by making everything a one-click experience. Its right there on my website - the books, the spices, eventually the sauces and the lentils too.
