I am very proud to serve for my country. One thing I dont like - TopicsExpress

I am very proud to serve for my country. One thing I dont like much is being asked Why, dont you celebrate Veternd day? Why, dont you take advantage of the opportunities given for free to Veterns? And so forth an so on. Even though Im proud to put in the uniform, I dont necessarily like being in public with it on, unless I really have to. Ive never been much of publicly expressing my loyalty, duty, honor in events, parades, etc.. Its jut not me. But what really ticks me off is when someone, who has never served, gets offended when I tell them these things. I feel extremely uneasy being in public places in uniform. Im put on a pedestal and people gawk around like they have never seen a soldier.. I know Im not the only one who has felt this way. Youll always have those soldiers that do the public events and than you have the ones who celebrate then on the sideline and try and stay out of the spotlight. I love my country and I love my brothers and sisters who wear the uniform. Ill do anything for them. Im just not the type to openly celebrate it or receive free stuff from it when its offered.. I do not need someones appraisal of me or patting me on the back for serving. Im content with patting my own self in the back for a job well done...
