I am wondering about the argument that it is non-Christian to want - TopicsExpress

I am wondering about the argument that it is non-Christian to want to secure our Nations borders and at the same time welcome the idea of immigration from anywhere in the world when done decently and in order according to our laws. Now there is the argument presented that evil and violence are prevalent in the countries from which they are fleeing and crossing into this country illegally. Evil and violence is in the world, including the United States. Have you read the papers lately about Gang violence and drug wars in our inner-cities and the numerous shooting and deaths in places like Chicago and Detroit. There are places in the U. S. where it is not save to walk in your own neighborhood after nightfall. Why target the U. S. for escape? If they are traveling 1000 miles through another country to get here, why not seek to stay in that country nearest you. Why head North when it would be more convenient and less costly to head South? The answers to these questions (and many of the illegals have stated it) it isnt so much about the violence at home as it is a pursuit of a better life. That is laudable and commendable, but the pursuit should be by legal paths and not invasion tactics. As a Pastor, I want to feed the poor, cloth the naked, and bring the Gospel of Christ to all. That is why I support Christian missions all over the world.
