I am writing on behalf of Kim, to give an update on her latest news. Kim had a long day at University of Michigan yesterday, where she had an echo on her heart, and CT scans of her lungs and abdomen. She then saw a sarcoma specialist in the afternoon. The good news is that Kims heart is healthy. They see no concern with her continuing the treatment that had previously been successful for her. The not-so-good news is that the shrinkage that was a result of her previous treatment, did not sustain. Her tumors have enlarged to their original size. However, because her previous treatment was successful, it has been recommended that she immediately begin that treatment again. It is recommended that instead of going back to Moffitt, that Kim go to a center that has a reputable sarcoma program. The center closest to Kim is in Miami, Florida. The physician she has been referred to is the Director of the Sarcoma Medical Research Program. We are in the process of investigating when she can begin treatment there, and what support services will be offered. When we have more updates, we will let you know. It was a tiring day for Kim yesterday, but before she went to bed, my kids were able to entertain her (aka distract her) with their ramblings. Today, after we get some coordination of care done, we will go to Kohls, have lunch, and give Kim some much needed TLC. Thanks for all of your prayers and support of Kim. Shes a love.
