I am writing to you in concern for the 110 sacred Native American burial sites that The Williams Company wants to run their pipelines thru, that they say they don’t know about. background- Lancaster county is considered the indian capital of pennsylvania, with over 1100 sites registered with the state, many more historically documented and undocumented sites scattered around. the pipeline route as it stands now goes through lots of sites in Manor,Conestoga, Pequea, and Martic Townships. In Manor the pipeline runs through the original Conestoga town that William Penn visited and is mentioned in historic documents. [36la52] It then goes across the Roberts site [36la1]. When it comes across the Conestoga river into Conestoga township, it comes across the Capiello farm [ the old Gantz property], a huge site of at least 8 acres on which artifacts from archaic to contact have been found. this site runs up the hill almost to main street on the Like property. Across Main Street there are sites on the Kahn and Frey properties. As you cross River Corner Rd there are sites on the Wiker, Martin, and Leakway properties. On the Gross property on Meadow Lane there have been bone tools found. Behind the Gross property is Sheaffers where there are sites, and next are the sites on Levi Eshs property on Pequea Creek Blvd where the pipeline goes into Pequea Township. I have not gone any further than this cause i just run out of time. Conestoga and Pequea were named for the indians occupying them at the time and Manor is short for Penns Indian Manor. I think this is probably enough info for them to at least look at this. Anyone who does just a little research will come up with the facts-- most of these are historically documented. So as you can see we do not want to see any of our Ancestors being desecrated. We would like to be given the same respect that you would give European settlers sites and recent graveyards as well. As we feel our Ancestors remains are just as important as any other race. And wish not to see them dug up and displayed in a museum. We would like to respectfully request that The Williams Company do NOT go thru these areas where the sites are located. Thank you for your time and consideration! my letter to ferc! thanks to gene!
