I am writing to you to inform you of a free Queensland Government service which may be beneficial to many of your clients in their settlement in Queensland. As you would be aware, recognition of overseas qualifications facilitates the engagement of migrants and overseas trained professionals in employment and further training and education commensurate with their skill levels. The Skills Recognition program within the Department of Education, Training and Employment was established to assist migrants after they have arrived with academic assessments of their overseas qualifications. The service is available to those with permission to work and/or study in Australia and is provided using guidelines developed by Australian Education International - National Office of Overseas Skills Recognition. The assessment provides an academic comparison in line with the current Australian standards and is commonly used to assist migrant’s endeavours in returning to work or to undertake further tertiary study. In addition to the assessment, we also provide information about registration and recognition by professional bodies and career information specific to Queensland.
