I applaud Commissioner Farrow’s actions in carrying out a swift and thorough investigation of the officer involved in last month’s disturbing beating. His decision to strip the officer of his duties and forward the findings of the investigation to CIty Attorney Mike Feuer and District Attorney Jackie Lacey demonstrates that no one is above the law. People across our community and the country were shocked by the disturbing footage of the abusive beating on a subdued woman at the hands of someone sworn to protect her. The people of our community deserve law enforcement that they can rely on and trust. Incidents of excessive force are becoming all too common and undermine the goal we all share: to keep our neighborhoods safe. The release of the full investigation report is a start toward rebuilding the trust that has been lost. Today’s announcement by Commissioner Farrow is a strong step toward justice. I will continue to advocate for the safety of the constituents in my community as well as all my fellow citizens while I watch this case as it moves forward.
