I appreciate and love Veterans and I love animals and thats why I created Pets 4R Vets... But when Robbie Clarke approached me to help him start this VETERANS HELPING VETERANS Charity and he explained in detail why he had been thinking about doing it for a long time... It really hit home for me... My Grandfather was in Pearl Harbor when it was bombed, suffered fromshellshock, PTSD of its time... He suffered greatly & so did my Mother and Grandmother bc of it... There wasnt anyone to help him and by the time I met him as an old man he didnt know who I was and thought my Mom was still a child living upstairs... A Croatian immigrant and American War Hero and an example of how many lives are affected by PTSD... When my Pops passed and I took over the Original Johnnys in Hemet, a retirement community, I hung out daily with Vietnam Veterans... THEY helped me survive the bar biz at such a young age... But I also saw many of them suffering from memories of the war... I did what I could, I listened, fed them, loaned them money for bills, gave them rides when needed, bought em beers and played their favorite songs on the jukebox (its where my love for OLD Country Music comes from)... I remember my buddy Freddie saying It was the best of times and the worst of times... The worst is well documented now. The best was bc he was with his brothers!!! Honorable Recharge wants to give Veterans of all Wars that Camaraderie that they had when enlisted... Lets make sure the Veterans of today DO NOT suffer like the Veterans of the past... IT IS MY PERSONAL GOAL TO MAKE THAT HAPPEN AS MUCH AS HUMANLY POSSIBLE!!!! Us civilians CAN help VETERANS HELP VETERANS!!!!
