I appreciate this van isn’t for everyone – but hopefully someone out there who works away, is a grey nomad, likes comfort while fishing etc. can see the value in it. I put it up here to see if any GNs, especially anyone thinking of going solo - might want the opportunity first. 2001 SWB Mitsubishi Express SJ - Micro Stealth Camper Only 130,000 K’s, just serviced with rego until 22/08/2015. Starts, runs and stops perfectly. Cold A/C, USB/iPhone stereo, roof racks and great tyres all round. I built it myself from an empty van to be unlimited off-grid capable. With the fridge running 24/7, laptop, music, lights etc. you will never run out of power. Without solar completely, the setup will run for about 4 days. The alternator has been wired to fully charge the battery in 4 hours, or just float charge when driving if it’s already charged. With solar, the battery is always charged. It’s fully insulated with all rear panels carpeted. The floor has sound deadening, hard wood, felt, plastic waterproofing - then 8mm laminate floor throughout. It’s extremely quiet to drive and also at night for sleeping. There is a roof vent with a mozzie net built into it in the roof, along with dimmable LED lighting. Can be set up single or double bed, with lots of underneath storage. Brand new Waeco 40CFX fridge/freezer Top quality 120A/H AGM battery Caframo Scirocco low draw fan – top of the range 600W/1200W peak 240W invertor 130W Genuine Bosch solar panel Solar regulator (also with timed power outlet) Narva isolator and relays LED strip light with dimmer switch x 2 Brand new two burner stove on slide-out runners Brand new full gas bottle 300W Bluetooth amplifier for phone or laptop movie streaming. Pioneer 6 x 9 three way speakers 2 x USB fitted to bench cupboards 2 x 12V sockets with LED battery voltage indicator 2 x 240V sockets with LED “on” reminder Curtains, bench, cupboards, handles are all handmade and built to last. Redbook says the van is $5400 with 250,000 K’s as an average, mine is considerably lower. There’s about $3000 of new accessories in the van. The actual wood, aluminium, carpet, laminate etc. wasn’t cheap either, almost $2000. Then there’s the time and effort! I was planning on taking off in it myself, but my circumstances have changed and I can’t do it any longer. I’m not adding a profit onto this van, I’m selling it for less than what it cost me. (I recently registered it too, along with a service last month). I’ve seen a few old 1980’s and even 1970’s Hi-Ace type campers advertised with 450,000K’s on for $12,000 - $14,000. Despite the age of the van’s themselves, the insides are worn to say the least. At $10,000 - this one is brand new inside, registered and ready to go. Only serious buyers please, if you don’t have the money – I don’t have the time. Thank you. I have uploaded pictures here to alleviate a lot of questions: s103.photobucket/user/onlythebestsells/slideshow/Mitsubishi%20Express%20Van%20SWB%20Camper%20Conversion And a video showing part of the build is here:
