I asked this question at the candidates forum and was very disappointed with the candidates responses. Should so-called amenities packages offered by developers be banned? Currently, amenities packages are used essentially as bribes to buy support for a particular development. But shouldnt just the merits of a project and its impact on the environment, neighbourhoods, traffic, and safety be weighed? By throwing money around town, developers can make a project so enticing that the public and local officials conveniently turn they eyes away from the significant impacts of the development.
