I attended both of the marches, in March and today. Ive noticed lots of emphasis on being peaceful and not having offensive signs, and even now people saying they are not welcoming of anonymous people in guy fawkes masks.... Im not violent, i have no urges to be violent, but what is this all going to achieve? Why cant people have angry signs that speak their minds? Why cant people mask their face with something extremely symbolic? And what does standing in the streets achieve in the end? Now i have been an activist for years, been to all kinds of protests all over the country, from little groups to a hundred thousand - i dont claim to have the answers. I think its great to be in a mob of people who all come together for a common cause, but standing around in the street hasnt done much in the time ive been around. When will things crank up a notch or two? Or is this as civilly disobedient as folk are prepared to be? It all seems very state sanctioned.
