I barely made the deadline yesterday to submit this painting to be considered for the Religious and Spiritual art of Utah show at Springville art museum. The paint was still wet when I turned it in! It is titled Mary and Martha, and concerns the beautiful but sometimes tenuous duality that we try to balance between spiritual aspirations and earthy, temporal concerns. The imagery in the decoupage appreciates the varied roles women aspire to. My favorite piece was from a book jacket cover titled, Womens Work-The First 20,000 Years. It made me laugh out loud when I saw it. Was the author trying to be ironic? Special thanks to the lovely Linda Russell for modeling for me (twice!) As well as to Sandy Dawson for her adorable daughter!
