I believe God is everything; you and I, the Sun, the trees, the Alpha and Omega. Thus, I believe we are God percieving Himself, light percieving light. Imagine you were all knowing, and all powerful and in a state of perfect bliss. How long would it take for you to want a surprise? A challenge? Why does every good story have a conflict? An antagonist? Because we cannot fully know joy until we have known pain. Therefore, we should look to struggle, to misfortune, to our antagonist as our helper in our journey of infinite spiritual growth. The higher the levels of experience and joy we attain will lead to harder struggles which help us to even greater joy and wisdom with which we will face even greater challenges and so on and so forth infinitely.
