I believe I am most proud of this one. God was literally giving me every word, it was an amazing experience! I hope you enjoy it. Let me know! Article: Keeping the Light on written August 24, 2013 I’m just finished writing about learning the tricks and ways of our enemy, some call him the prince of darkness. I was writing on my ‘Ideas’ page ‘Light = absence of darkness’ and guess who came to mind—you’ll never guess, younger folks may not even know when I tell them. It’s Tom Bodette (sp?). Several years ago there was a hotel commercial on TV a lot for Motel 6, the main line in the commercial was, “This is Tom Bodette and we’ll leave the light on for you.” It was a very catchy phrase and it just gave you a good feeling about this hotel chain—that when you arrived it would be light and bright. It was a great commercial. Then I equated that good feeling when someone ‘leaves the light on for you’ to the article I had written about ‘Overcome Evil With Good’. Romans 12:21, “Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.” I believe that may be the entire vision statement of my ministry – Overcome Evil with Good – Overcome Darkness with Light – Overcome satan with God! You get it? Do you know the definition of darkness is actually nothing, darkness in itself is actually nothing. Darkness is the absence of light, even the faintest of light will disrupt darkness, right? Do you see where I’m going with this? We may think we’re in the dark, but often times, when our eyes get adjusted, we’re able to see shadows and outlines some sort of vision is usually available. Pitch black darkness is actually rare. So to overcome satan, evil and darkness – replace it with, yes, you’ve got it – God, good and light. Ephesians 5:8 says, “For you were once darkness but now you are light in the Lord.” In John 9:5, Jesus says, “While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” He also says in John 12:46, “I have come into the world as a light, so that no one who believes in me should stay in darkness.” I was looking for the verse that says, ‘we are in the light, as He is in the light’, but I really love John 12:46. It may be one of my new favorites – just imagine, no one who believes in Jesus should stay in darkness’! Hallelujah! (Hallelujah was one of my Mother’s favorite words, by the way!) Some may ask, how do we stay in the light? Well, reading God’s word, doing scripture studies, talking with God, anything that keeps us in the light and away from darkness. We actually have infinite ways to stay in the light. Opportunities are everywhere for those of us blessed to live in America! You can actually thank God for this article, because He just moved my hand, I couldn’t write as fast as the words were coming to me. I hope it blesses you as much as it blessed me to write it. God Bless
