I believe in being thankful every day, but I love taking the time - TopicsExpress

I believe in being thankful every day, but I love taking the time in November to talk about the details... On this, day one of my thankful month, I want to say I am thankful for social media. Even though I love being unplugged and I really treasure those days when we are away from our offices, like many true introverts, I like being able to connect with people without having to be on like in a social situation or having to drive an hour into town. I love being able to see my nieces and nephews and children here on fb and other social media platforms. I enjoy reaching out to and having friends from all over the world, from many walks of life, and with many different ways of looking at the world. Nov 2 : Today I am thankful that my body is strong and healthy. I am grateful that I can hike and ride and work hard and sleep soundly at night. I may be vertically challenged and have to use leverage instead of strength at some tasks, I may have scars and sags that are testament that I bore and nursed beautiful children, and I may not look like a model in a magazine, but am thankful, as Mary Oliver says, ...to be given a mind and a heart and these body-clothes... Nov 3: Today I am thankful for the ability to grow food. Today I picked a dozen jalepenos and a few wrinkled tomatoes and pulled out all of the plants that froze in the night. I hauled them to the chickens who were delighted with the gift. I watered the small spinach and lettuce plants that are coming up to feed us through the winter. I also watered the kale that has been growing strong since April even though I pick it down often. What a glorious planet we live on! Put seeds in soil. Add water. Eat! It is with a thankful heart that I will chop up a pepper into our eggs in the morning. November 4: Tonight I just want to say that I am thankful for coffee in the mornings. That sensual glorious blissful way to start a day. Tomorrow I will write something meaningful and deep. Tonight I just offer a gratefulness for the simple coffee bean. Nuff said. Nov 5: Tonight I am thankful for my daughter, Flame Lily Auker. She makes me laugh, makes me think, is supportive and understanding, and I am so very grateful for her daily presence in my life. Nov 6: Tonight I am so grateful that I live in the country where my roosters voice doesnt bother anyone, where my dogs are not confined (and can roll in something dead if they see the need), where the horses are right outside the front door, where the rocks glow at sunrise and sunset, where I can hear the coyotes songs, where the owls have long conversations in the creek, and where the traffic jams are ants and caterpillars and bat flights and too many baby kittens in the hay.
