I believe this church and their pastor are the real deal. Please pray for them and the work they seek to accomplish through the Foundation for Relief and Reconciliation in the Middle East , frrme.org/ This is a very good statement that could be applied to many contexts where there is religious/cultural/ethnic tension: Mission Our work promotes hope and forgiveness, to counter prevailing attitudes of bitterness and retaliation, and break the cycle of hate begetting hate. Were guided by these core principles: - Religion and politics are intimately linked in the Middle East, so a religious track is essential to a balanced peace process - Any peace talks need to be jointly owned by each of the major faith groups within the region - To be fully effective, the religious peace process should engage both the senior leadership and the grassroots of a community - Conflict causes destruction and poverty, which can breed resentment and create further division. As well as treating victims of violent conflict, our humanitarian relief work helps to establish the conditions necessary for lasting reconciliation. Jesus calls us/me to peacemaking in the present, where I live, among people who believe as I do and people who do not. The principles of reconciliation, if I believe them to be true and God-given, are always true and the Word I embrace has the power to break down walls and barriers among people. God grant that this church in the middle of a war zone, will be protected and will continue to be salt and light in the midst of deep and bitter conflict.
