I believe this peace process in Israel with all its ups and downs - TopicsExpress

I believe this peace process in Israel with all its ups and downs is all mapped out. The talks have been declared finished almost daily for over 10 months. If you have been following this story, you know that yesterday in a surprise move the Palestinians filed papers for some symbolic international recognition. This reportedly threw a wrench in the whole process of making peace. Yesterday afternoon it looked, once again, like all was lost. But it wasnt. As soon as everyone got sufficiently upset, John Kerry began explaining how it wasnt that bad. Everyone calm down. Today, the Palestinians are saying please Mr. Kerry, keep working to make peace! What?! This only makes sense from a Biblical perspective, and a common sense evaluation of the strengths and weaknesses of each side of the three-sided table. Israel and Palestine are both completely reliant on US aid. Without our cash and political support, both the PLO and the State of Israel are in big trouble. The PLO needs us to keep legitimacy over Hamas, who also wants to control Palestine. Israel is nearly completely reliant on us for security, political cover at the UN, and economically. We have both parties between a rock and a hard place. Without basically committing political, security, and financial harry carry, both the PLO and Israel have to generally keep us as buddies. So, common sense tells you there is no such thing as a surprise move that would destroy the one basket our president and secretary of state have put nearly all of their foreign policy eggs into. What we are witnessing, in my mind, and in the minds of some others who are paying attention, is carefully calculated, orchestrated, and brilliantly executed political theater intended to create the right context for the Palestinian and Israeli leaders to make what looks like impossible concessions and still remain in power. Time will tell, but this article is pretty good at cutting through the baloney and seeing the obvious, if you strip away the media hype. cbn/cbnnews/insideisrael/2014/April/Despite-Posturing-Peace-Talks-Likely-to-Continue/
