I call it my pouting room. I must have one in each house. A place to go and escape. In most of our homes, its been a screened porch. However, in our new home which I LOVE, Im trapped. Nowhere to run from the angry teen or child hyped up on Mountain Dew. When work raised an ugly brow and the husband barely mumbles a Hmmmhmmm when I try to talk about it. When the world presses down and the TV is too loud and everyone wants to know whats for supper even though chicken cooks on the stove for the fourth time that week. Stuck. Mired. Shackled. Often the only escape is bed. At 7:30. And then... Sweet, wonderful, amazing man of mine yanked the deck off the house, poured the footings and will finish the concrete today. With master skills, he will lift boards, stack stone into a fireplace, place the door right where it should be, wrap it in screen so mosquitos can only watch the merriment from the other side. And I will have my space. Maybe I can install a dual lock. One from the inside of the house AND a different one outside. Just for the few seconds, minutes, okay sometimes hours it takes to decompress. We need it, dont we friends? I feel like doing the Carleton. I cant wait. Wheres your space? Where do you run when no one understands you? Where Jesus waits to hold you in His arms until the mood passes. I know He is in our hearts, but sometimes the world just needs to shut up in order to hear Him better. Tell me where you go. ~ Happy Thursday, sweetness!
