I called Hydro One today to ask them who calibrates the smart meters and when are they calibrated to ensure that they are sending the correct readings. The response I got was from them, was they do not calibrate the meters and all of the testing of the meters were done by Measurement Canada. I questioned them (Hydro One) if you do not have any documents to back up or prove that in fact the meter are reading or sending the correct readings every month, then you are only assuming that they are correct. Now is the part that I do not agree with. If the gas pumps have to bylaw be calibrated annually, then why do the smart meters not bylaw need to be also calibrated annually to ensure that the correct reading are being sent to them which you are being billed for each month. This is just another avenue which I will be digging deeper into because I will be looking for all of the testing results of how the smart meters were tested, what environment they have been tested in, when they were calibrated and we they should be recalibrated. I will keep you posted of my finding!
