I came down to Charlotte NC for the Bobcats/Heat game last night and all the conversation was not about the game, but the racist comments Clippers owner, Donald Sterling made. Theres a cloud hanging over the whole league and all of the NBA people I talked to were clearly disturbed and disgusted by Mr. Sterlings comments. The NBA has to deal with this quickly and severely. As Charles Barkley said, Were a black league. More than 70% of the players are African-American and Mr. Sterling made them feel like they were back on the plantation yesterday. Some people have suggested the The Clippers players boycott their playoff game today. That would be an incredibly strong statement, but I dont think it will happen. I dont know how you give it your all though. I couldnt. I Loved President Obamas comment on this. When ignorant folks want to advertise their ignorance, you dont really have to do anything, you just let them talk. Thats what happened here. Massa Sterling just talked himself out of The NBA. It may be announced as a suspension initially, but hes going to be forced to sell. You cant have this in The NBA. It was ironic that I was sitting in the suite of the only African-American owner in The NBA when I heard this news. That put a smile on my face. Or was it a smirk?
