I can go with the Ascension without reservation. It was not until - TopicsExpress

I can go with the Ascension without reservation. It was not until the modernist era, just prior to Vatican II that the pope in 1950, using modernist powers granted in Vatican I made this an infallible decree in the RC church. Most contemporary Vatican II Conciliar church members (Catholics of the Church of Vatican II) accept this as infallible. Many "Traditionalists" of the SSPX and SSPV groups go along with this as well, as they do not see the hand of modernism until Vatican II. It is crucial to note that other churches of Apostolic Succession as well as very orthodox traditionalists (as opposed to the ever-increasingly-liberal SSPX, for example) accept the Assumption as a good thing to be believed, but not as an infallible dogmatic truth. As it was not until 1950 that this was done; and as this was amid the modernist conspiracy that gave us Vatican II, I have to question not the belief, but he dogmatic mandate.
